From Glory to Glory

Key Text: Romans 8:29
“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”

God’s Ultimate Purpose for Every Believer

God’s ultimate desire for every believer is not merely salvation but transformation. According to Romans 8:29, we have been predestined to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. Our destiny is to become more like Him—to reflect His character, His nature, and His glory in our daily lives.

Jesus perfectly manifested the reality and glory of God while He walked on earth. As His followers, we are called not only to receive God’s glory but also to reveal it. The measure of our spiritual growth is seen in how much of God’s nature and glory is expressed through us.

Jesus declared in Matthew 5:16:

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

As God’s representatives on earth, His glory must be visible through our lives.

The Journey of Glory Has Dimensions

Spiritual growth is progressive. God takes us from one level of glory to another. As we decrease in self, Christ increases within us. This process is not instant but continual.

Hebrews 2:11 reminds us that Christ is not ashamed to call us brethren because we have been brought into His family and are being shaped into His likeness.

Romans 8:30 further reveals God’s divine process:

“Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.”

Notice that glorification is part of God’s plan. The expected end God has for His children is glory.

Glory Is Meant to Be Revealed on Earth

Many believers think only of the glory that awaits in heaven, but Scripture teaches that God’s glory is also meant to be revealed through us now.

Romans 8:18 says:

“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”

Similarly, Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God has thoughts of peace toward us, plans that lead to an expected end. That expected end includes the manifestation of His glory in our lives.

Every challenge, trial, and season of difficulty can become part of God’s process of producing glory.

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” (2 Corinthians 4:17)

Even when circumstances seem difficult, God is working all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

Living Under the Lordship of Christ

Transformation requires surrender.

Many people gladly receive Jesus as Savior but stop short of submitting to Him as Lord. Yet true spiritual growth begins when we yield every area of our lives to His authority.

God does not force His government upon us. He invites us to willingly submit to His leadership. When we acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus, we begin to live according to the government of heaven rather than the desires of our flesh.

Romans 8:14 declares:

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

The Holy Spirit leads only those who are willing to surrender. Jesus Himself lived in complete submission to the Father’s will throughout His earthly ministry. Likewise, we are called to daily surrender our plans, ambitions, and desires to Him.

The Secret of Transformation

The greatest transformation occurs when we behold Christ.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 says:

“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

We cannot transform ourselves through human effort. Transformation is the work of the Holy Spirit. As we behold Christ—His power, His wisdom, His goodness, and His love—we are gradually changed into His image.

Whatever aspect of Christ we consistently focus on begins to shape our lives. As we behold Him, we become like Him.

A Prayer for Greater Glory

Lord Jesus, remove anything that stands in the way of Your glory being revealed through my life. Help me to fully submit to Your Lordship and to walk daily under the leadership of Your Spirit. Let the image of the Son of God become my identity. Transform me from glory to glory until my life becomes a true reflection of You. Amen.
